December, 2013

It's the holiday season, my favorite time of year. Even here in southern California the temperature has dropped dramatically and winter is upon us. What a great time to snuggle by the fireside and read!

I spent 2013 researching and writing a new novel I'm very excited about: JANE AUSTEN'S FIRST LOVE. It covers a time in Austen's life that's rarely been written about--her teenage years. Inspired by real people and actual events, the book brings to life Jane's romantic relationship with an extraordinary young man.

The novel is due out August 5, 2014 from Berkley Books, a division of Penguin. You can learn more and preorder it here.

Thanks to all who attended launch parties for THE MISSING MANUSCRIPT OF JANE AUSTEN! Publishers Weekly called the novel "a literary feast for Anglophiles." Kirkus Reviews gave it a starred review and deemed it "a page turner." In the book, a seventh Austen novel is discovered. I hope you enjoy it!

In September I toured Austen's England with Ingenious Travel and a group of lively ladies, and we had the time of our lives! Here we are on the steps of Chawton House Library.

My husband Bill and I attended the JASNA AGM in Minneapolis, where I signed books, we met up with dear friends, and (of course!) dressed up for the Regency ball.

On December 16, please stop by, where I'll be posting an original short story in honor of Jane Austen's birthday.

I'm delighted to announce that all eight of my novels are now available not only in print and e-book editions, but as audiobooks as well. I hope you'll check out the ones you haven't read (or heard)... and remember, books make wonderful holiday gifts!
