YOU ARE PASSIONATE, JANE

Syrie James plays Jane Austen and Diana Birchall plays Charlotte Bronte in Diana's comedic play "You Are Passionate, Jane," a hilarious view of the two literary legends' meeting in heaven.

In "You Are Passionate, Jane" (the title refers to a quote from Jane Eyre), Jane Austen is the designated gatekeeper in heaven, deciding which literary figures will be allowed to ascend beyond the pearly gates.

Austen and Bronte are temperamental opposites, and Bronte was known to be devoid of any sympathy to Austen's writing style--much to the perturbation of the angelic Jane.

As Charlotte's passionate life and works come under scrutiny, the literary and comedic sparks fly.

Syrie and Diana have performed staged readings of the play for JASNA audiences in Seattle, Washington and Pasadena, California. It is available in 40-minute and 20-minute versions.
